US senator: Obama eloquent in seeking ties with Iran

New York, Jan 20, IRNA – Former US Senator Bennett Johnston said the US President Barack Obama is eloquent enough in expressing interest in restoring ties with Iran.

The former diplomat made the remarks while talking to IRNA here on Saturday.

He referred to the latest “constructive” developments between Iran and the US like the speedy release of the US marines by Iran, the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and the prisoner swap between the two countries and said all of them paved the ground for promotion of relations.

He said it was a very positive development to see Iran proving its rigid commitment to implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) because it prepare the ground for more changes in relations between Iran and the US.

He said the reason for the new set of US sanctions against Iran was Iran’s missile tests which had nothing to do with JCPOA.

He said a group of extremists in the US Congress were trying hard to stop JCPOA success.
