20 killed, 50 wounded in Pakistani university terror attack

Tehran, Jan 20, IRNA - At least 20 people have been killed and 50 other injured after gunmen stormed the campus of Bacha Khan University in northwestern Pakistan on Wednesday, according to Pakistan state media and police.

Pakistani police said that two gunmen were killed and several other attackers were still actively shooting on campus, Bnonews reported.

There were reports that the attackers are holding hostages at the university, in Charsadda, near the border with Afghanistan.

There were conflicting accounts on the number of those killed, but according to Pakistan's Provincial Information Minister Shoukat Yousufzai at least 20 were killed.

According to Geo News, Pakistan Army soldiers have entered the university.
Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack.

Some 3,000 students and 600 guests were on campus, according to local media reports.

Police are searching for at least three suspected terrorists, who are reportedly hiding out in different parts of the campus.
