US automakers can enter Iran market: official

Tehran, Jan 15, IRNA – Mohammad-Reza Najafmanesh, a member of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, said on Friday that there are no obstacles on the way of US automakers' entering Iranian market.

The US automakers will have no problem for cooperating with Iran if they adapt themselves with Iran's conditions, Najafmanesh said.

He said that the ban for importing US commodities include consumer goods not the capital ones.

Referring to a probable visit to France next month by President Hassan Rouhani, Najafmanesh said that during his France visit, the president will probably sign contracts with Peugeot and Renault.

Most of the automobiles manufactured in Iran are produced in cooperation with the two main French automakers, he said.

Najafmanesh said that automakers that enter the Iranian market will have to produce automobiles that are 40% Iran-made and will also need to export 30% of their products to foreign countries.
