Afghan consulate official's residence targeted in NW Pakistan

Islamabad, Jan 15, IRNA – Unidentified militants attacked the residence of an Afghan consulate official in north western city Peshawar on Friday, police said.

A police official said unidentified armed men on motorcycles opened fire on consulate official's house. He added that consulate official Humayun Yousafzai is unhurt.
Initial investigation revealed a sub-machine gun was used to fire at the house and 29 bullet casings have been recovered from the site of the attack.
A case has been registered against unidentified individuals and investigation is under way.
No group has so far claimed responsibility of the attack.
The attack took place after a Pakistani consulate in Afghanistan's Jalalabad city was fatally targeted on Wednesday.
Pakistan has requested the Afghan authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and share the details of the investigation with the country.
