Rouhani's Italy visit will help deepen bilateral ties: Official

Tehran, Jan 15, IRNA – President of Friuli-Venezia Giulia Debora Serrachiani said that Tehran-Rome ties were always and even in times of sanctions good and President Hassan Rouhani's imminent visit to the country will help deepen bilateral relations.

Talking to IRNA on Rouhani's imminent visit to Rome, she said that he is the first Iranian official who has selected Italy as destination for his first official trip.

Italian prime minister and president will be the first European official to meet Rouhani, she said, noting that it is also important that Rouhani is to talk with two main figures of Italy.

Concurrent with his trip to Italy, Iran-Italy Congress to be attended by the both countries' companies will be held in Iran, she added.

As to economic potential, which can be further enhanced, Serrachiani said that Iran-Italy ties will be further strengthened with the removal of sanctions.

She was in Iran to the accompaniment of a research and scientific delegation on a three-day official visit in late December.
She said that Iran and Italy can promote their cooperation in the fields of technology, mechanics, agriculture, foodstuff and culture.

The official also said that Tehran trip yielded good results, she said, noting that, some agreements were planned during the visit.
