Entry of eight tourists creates one new job

Semnan, Jan 5, IRNA – Deputy Industries, Mines and Trade Minister Ahmad Purfallah said on Tuesday that the effects of tourist industry on employment in Iran include creation of one new job for entry of eight tourists.

Purfallah who is also the Iranian co-chairman of Iran-Italy Joint Trade Chamber said that one new job for the entry of eight tourists into Iran is the most pessimistic prediction and let us not forget that our industrial units are now faced with difficulties and boosting the tourism industry can also greatly help them solve their problems.
'There are narrow-minded outlooks regarding tourism in Iran, which have led to negligence even about such sub-branches of tourism as historical, health, sports, deserts, and mountains tourism in Iran,' said the deputy minister.
He said it is wrong to say that the foreign tourist bring the Western culture to the country along with them since if the tourists would be after non-conventional, or un-Islamic pastimes they already have the chance to get engaged in them in their own countries.
'The tourists who visit Iran are after getting acquainted with the rich Iranian culture and manifestations of our ancient history, which the opponents of boosting tourists easily ignore,' said Purfallah.
He expressed hope that President Hassan Rouhani's cabinet will manage to apply the rules of wisdom about tourism industry and contribute to the great expansion of the Iranian tourism.
'London earns 20 billion dollars, New York City 18 billion and Seoul, South Korea 12 billion annually from tourism, while Iran, whose tourism attractions equal those of Greece does not even gain as much as that country from this resource,' he said.
