Iran ready to build industrial township in Afghanistan: Minister

Tehran, Jan 5, IRNA – Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh on Tuesday voiced Iran's preparedness to construct industrial township in Afghanistan.

In a meeting with Afghan Trade Minister Homayoun Rasa, Nematzadeh said that cumine, sesame, pistachio and raisin and other strategic agricultural products which are cultivated in abundance in both countries can be jointly exported to target countries.
Nematzadeh further noted that Iran is fully ready to transfer its industrial experience to the neighboring state.
With the establishment of industrial townships in Afghanistan independently or jointly will pave the way for employment of the Afghan youth and the return home, Iranian minister said.
Afghan minister, Rasa, for his part, described Iran as one of the biggest commercial partners of Afghanistan.
He noted that commissioning some production lines in Afghanistan, given abundance of raw materials and cheap energy as well as greater manpower in the country, will prepare the ground for cooperation with Iran.
Facilitation of visa issuance and banking guarantee for the Afghan businessmen and removing cumbersome regulations and obstacles in Iran portal customs house will also contribute to the field, he said.
Rasa contended that the two countries trade can be raised to a desirable level with the establishment of joint Iran and Afghanistan chamber of commerce and settlement of merchants' legal issues.
