Kuwait recalls ambassador from Tehran

Tehran, Jan 5, IRNA – Kuwait has summoned its ambassador from Tehran on Tuesday in a move which proved its obedience to the Saudi regime.

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) quoted an informed source in Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry as saying that the country has asked its ambassador to return back home.

It said the decision was made after a group of people attacked Saudi Arabia embassy in Tehran on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia on Saturday executed Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, a Shia Muslim cleric known for his sermons criticizing the kingdom’s government and for his support of political protests in the country’s oil-rich Eastern Province.

At that day, the Saudi Interior Ministry said 47 people have been executed on charges of what it referred to as terrorism.

Prominent Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr was among those executed.

The Saudi executions triggered protests in Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf Arab states and in Iran.
