Bandar Abbas ranks 1st in transit

Bandar Abbas, Jan 5, IRNA- General Director of Provincial Transportation and Terminal Department of Hormozgan, Alireza Mojarrad said that among Iran's 32 active borders, Bandar Abbas ranked first in the first three quarters of the Iranian year ending in March 19, 2016.

Mojarrad told IRNA on Tuesday that over 3,401,000 tons products were transited from Bandar Abbas.

He also said that 2,455,920 tons products have been imported to Bandar Abbas and transited to other borders of the country.

He added that transited products mostly consisted fuels, chemicals, construction goods, home appliances and different types of cotton.

He noted that 945,642 tons products have been transited to other countries specially to Persian Gulf states.

Bandar-e Emam Khomeyni, Bandar Abbas and Lotfabad have been Iran's most active ports, he said.

North-South Corridor as one of the most important international corridors crossing Bandar Abbas and Hormozgan province and connecting Asia to Europe fulfills the needs of countries like Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Uzbekistan and Turkey.
