Deputy head of the organization for development of aquatics breeding, Hossein Abdel-Hay said that the entity is planning to import 12,000 cyprinus carpio baby fish from Hungary for genetic improvement purposes.
He further noted that Iranian Fisheries Organization also imported 15,000 Cyprinus carpio baby fish from China last year.
Noting that ordinary cyprinus carpio fish competes against trout in terms of price, he said Iran exports some 10,000 to 20,000 tons of cyprinus carpio fish to Iraq each year.
Earlier, a delegation from Hungary visited fish farming centers in Khuzestan province and signed an agreement with Iranian fisheries organization.
