Russian navy fleet leaves Anzali Port for Baku

Anzali, Mazandaran Prov., Aug 11, IRNA – Russian navy fleet of two warships wrapped up its three-day stay at the northern Iranian port city of Anzali and left there for Baku on Tuesday after a joint naval exercise with the Iranian navy.

Commander of Iran's fleet of warships in the Northern Gilan province Admiral Ahmad Reza Baqeri saw off the Russians.
Talking to reporters, Kirill Taranenko, the commander of the Russian fleet, invited the Islamic Republic of Iran Army's Navy force to visit Astrakhan.
Thanking Iranian Navy, the Russian military official hoped for expansion of mutual cooperation.
To a question by IRNA on importance of the Caspian Sea, he said Caspian Sea enjoys very rich natural resources and all the Caspian neighbors are in efforts to preserve the Sea's natural environment and resources.
Meanwhile, Admiral Baqeri said Damavand destroyer, Peykan and Joshan missile launchers as well as a helicopter of Iranian navy had conducted joint exercise with Russian navy in 20 percent of Iranian territorial waters.
He said 200 Iranian navy forces and 150 Russian ones had participated in the wargame, which aimed at more interaction and raising combat readiness as well as expanding mutual cooperation.
This is the third trip of a Russian fleet to Anzali, with the first two being in 2007 and the second one in 2014.
