Respect to states' sovereignty needed in anti-terror campaign

Tehran, July 25, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesperson reacting to Turkish air raids in Syria said although all governments' effective cooperation in anti-terrorism is necessary, respecting the national sovereignty of states is definitely needed as well.

Marziyeh Afkham made the comment in response to IRNA's question, reiterating Iran's unchangeable and basic stand against all types of terrorism and extremism.

'Effective campaign against terrorism is in need of all world countries' comprehensive cooperation, and we further believe any type of negligence, or yielding to terrorism and extremism tendencies leads to Takfiri groups' further criminal and inhumane acts,' added Afkham.

She also said that any type of anti-terrorism campaign must be in the framework of the international laws, especially regarding the need to respect the national sovereignty of governments.

Beyond doubt, Afkham said, the moves that will weaken the governments are in favor of the terrorists.
