Pirouzfar to stage play in N. America

Tehran, July 21, IRNA - Iranian actor and director Parsa Pirouzfar will stage 'Matryoshka', a play based on short stories by noted Russian playwright Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, in Southern California in the US as well as in Canadian cities of Toronto and Montreal.

Iranian movie star, Pirouzfar, staged a play titled 'Bar Pahneye Darya' (At Sea) written by Slawomir Mrozek at Iranshahr Hall in Tehran in 2014, Young Journalists Club reported.

Pirouzfar also directed 'Stones in His Pockets' by Mary Jones and 'Glengarry Glen Ross' by David Mamet in 2013 and 2011, respectively, according to Tehran-based English newspaper Iran-Daily.

In 2001, he staged a play titled 'Art' which was well-received by the audience.

He began his education in painting in 1991 at Tehran University's Faculty of Fine Arts and at the same time, he also began acting on stage, in a number of university plays. He worked as a voice over actor from 1993 to 1997.

In 1994, he made his debut by playing a brief role in Dariush Mehrjui's 'Pari'.
