Iraqi scholars laud Imam Khomeini for initiative of Int'l Quds Day

Baghdad, July 10, IRNA – International Quds Day is observed worldwide and Iraq is no exception despite Takfiri and terrorist groups have created scene of violence in Iraq aiming to divide the Shia and Sunni Muslims.

On International Quds Day Iraqis showcased their Islamic unity, closing their ranks against plots of enemies of Islam.

Distinguished scholars have taken part in interviews with IRNA, calling on Iraqi people to take part in the Quds rallies massively:

In an interview with IRNA, Seyyed Saleh Al-Heidari, head of Awqaf Office of Iraqi Shias, underlined unity of Muslims and said the International Quds Day marks massive rally of Muslims in pursuit of the historical initiative of the late Imam Khomeini, who designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan the International Quds Day to rally support for Palestine.

He said the wise initiative and choice should be commemorated forever.

He underlined that Muslims should consider Palestine, especially noble Quds, the capital of Palestine.

Meanwhile, spokesman of Sunni Iftaah house Sheikh, Amer al-Bayati called International Quds Day as a historical day for the entire Muslim Ummah.

Hoping for elimination of the dirty Israel from the universe, al-Bayati recalled assertions of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Quds and said all our thoughts and attitudes as well as human values should be directed to Palestine issue and Beit-ul-Moqaddas.

He said all should abide by their history duty on the Day of Quds.

He invited world Shia and Sunni Mulims leaders to close their ranks.

This is while, Head of Muslim Ulema’s Basra Office, Youssef Al-Hamdani, said International Quds day, designated on the late Imam Khomeini’s initiative, sets the ground for unity of Muslims, being the central piece of power of Muslims.

He said Quds Day proved that Muslims, representing different religions and tribes, though having not serious differences, are united on key and fatal subjects, that have something to do with world Muslims.

He added that the late Imam Khomeini’s naming the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadhan as the International Quds Day is reflection of the unity.

“Today it is proved that the choice of International Quds Day was right and blessed, keeping conscience and spirit of Muslim Ummah alive for ever.”

He mde clear that Muslims from any ideology, race and tendency wait for a day to expel the usurper Zionists from the occupied lands by all means.

Ayatollah Seyed Hussein Sadr, an Alim in Kadhimayn, Iraq, told IRNA that International Quds Day marks a day when the late Imam Khomeini raised his outcry and today Muslim Ummah from many Islamic communion of thought have well understood the idea, staging huge rallies on last Friday of the month of Ramadan, making Israelis and their supporters tremble.

He said plots of Zionists have grown over the past decades against Islam and Muslim Ummah. Takfiri and extremist groups such as al-Qaeda and Daesh and other terrorist groups are created by Zionists with the mission to divide the Shia and Sunni Muslims and weaken them.

Meanwhile, the leader of Iraq's Sunni Council of Scholars, Shaykh Khalid Abdul-Wahhab al-Mulla, told IRNA that enemies of Islam are to divide Muslim communities.

He said the International Quds Day, that was an initiative by the late Imam Khomeini, is now the main link of all the world Muslims. He added that the golden opportunity should be used to counter Zonism and fight all its agents, including the Takfiri and terrorist groups.
