He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei.
Sanaei and Tatar President Minnikhanov reviewed ways to develop trade and cooperation between the Tatar republic and East Azarbaijan Province.
Minnikhanov expressed pleasure with his recent visit to Iran and meeting with Iranian officials and called for development of cooperation between the two countries.
Given to conference dubbed as; 'Russia's strategic views and Islamic world' , held recently in Moscow, Minnikhanov said that current situation and events in the Middle East necessitate that Russia develop more cooperation with Islamic countries and the Muslim world.
Concerning bilateral relations, Minnikhanov said that his country is interested to participate in Iran's oil and energy projects.
Sanaei underlined importance of inter-regional ties between Iran and Tatarstan and said that the first scientific and technology committee meeting will be held in Moscow in September.
Referring to authorization for exporting dairy and livestocks from Iran to Russia, Sanaei expressed hope that Tatarstan and littoral republics of Volga River develop trade interaction with Iran.
According to Russian law, Tatarstan Republic decided to upgrade trade relations with several countries including Iran, US, Germany, Italy and Turkey.
