Foreign Ministry summons Saudi charge d'affaires

Tehran, April 24, IRNA -- After Saudi Arabia's fighter jets blocked Iran's aid flights landing in Yemen, Foreign Ministry summoned the country's charge d'affaires to express its protest to the move.

During the meeting, Head of the Persian Gulf First Bureau said that Iran's Red Crescent Society acquired necessary permission in the past two days to send planes for transferring Yemeni sick to Iran and dispatch relief aid to them but the Saudi warplanes have approached the Iranian planes, forcing them return home.

The official recalled the Saudi charge d'affaires that the move by the Saudi fighter jets is a clear intervention in Yemeni affairs and violation of its airspace.

Saudi Arabia has launched airstrikes on Yemen since one month ago, killing innocent people and destroying its infrastructures.

While the Yemenis are currently in dire need of humanitarian aid, Saudi jet fighters have blocked Iranian aid flights landing in the country.
