Democratic government must take shape in Yemen by free elections

Tehran, April 23, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Cemil Çiçek on Thursday said that a national unity government must take shape in Yemen and the people must determine their fate at the polling stations.

Relations between Iran and Turkey is very friendly, Larijani said adding that Iran and Turkey with reliance on the religious and cultural affinities would promote amicable relations in various fields.

He expressed outrage at the Saudi bombardment of the Yemeni infrastructure and said that the Saudi government targeted the Yemen civilian population in a wrong strategic approach and carnage innocent people.

Such measures only harm the Muslim World and imperil regional peace and stability, he said.

Turkish parliament speaker, for his part, said current developments have aggravated the crisis in Yemen and it is very regrettable to witness bloodshed of Muslims.

Turkey believes that the current crisis in Yemen should be resolved through political dialogue between the two warring parties, he said.
