No need for Iran's presence in Yemen: IRGC commander

Tehran, April 19, IRNA - Deputy Commander of Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Brigadier-General Hossein Salami said on Sunday that there is no need for Iran's presence in Yemen.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Salami underscored that Yemen does not need Iran in military arena and combat training.

He stressed that Iran proudly announces it is ready to safeguard the Muslims people.

'We have defended the Bosnian Muslims and all of them were Sunni. None of the Palestinian Muslims are Shia. A majority of Syrian and Afghan Muslims are Sunni,' he said.

'If we are defending the Yemeni nation toward this historic catastrophe, most of them are Sunni Muslims,' Salami noted.

He concluded that some of Iranian commanders are popular figures in the Muslim world and are known as saviors against oppression.
