IRGC successfully test-fires land-based cruise missile

Tehran, March 8, IRNA – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps on Saturday successfully test-fired land-based cruise missile.

The ceremony was held in presence of Minister of Defense and Logistics of the Armed Forces Brigadier-General Hossein Dehqan and Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier-General Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

IRNA reported that mass production line of the long-range cruise missile named Ghadr and Ghiam were delivered to IRGC Aerospace force.

Minister of Defense and Logistics of the Armed Forces Brigadier-General Hossein Dehqan told reporters that Soomar long-range cruise missile has been designed and produced by the experts at aerospace industries organization affiliated to defense ministry.

Production of new generation of sophisticated cruise missile is regarded as a big stride to bolster the country's deterrent power, he said.

Defense ministry inaugurated mass production of two types of long-range cruise missiles named Ghadr and Ghiam, said the defense minister.

He said that the latest versions of the cruise missiles are very advanced and radar-evading with high flexibility, he said.

The missiles help increase the country's defense power, he said.

Iran does not need to get permission from others to develop defense capabilities, he said.

Soomar cruise missile is of high precision to hit targets, he said.

New generation of cruise will be produced which is more destructive with high precision, he said.
