Egyptian memorizer, Iranian Qari come 1st in 5th Int’l Quran Contest

Tehran, Jan 4, IRNA -- The 5th International Holy Quran Competition for Muslim Students came to a conclusion in Tehran on Sunday night with representatives of Iran and Egypt winning the first titles in recitation and memorization categories, respectively.

The jury panel of the contest selected Egypt’s Mohamed Abdul Aziz Niyazi from Egypt as the top contestant in memorization category. Iran’s representative Mohammad Javad Mohammadi Majd came second while Mahmoud el-Kofri from Lebanon won the third rank.

In the recitation category, Vahid Khazaei went home with the top prize while Qaris from Egypt and Iraq came second and third, respectively, iqna.ir reported.

The 5th edition of the international Quranic event was held with the participation of 66 Quran memorizers and reciters from 47 countries.

Tehran’s Milad Tower hosted the great Quranic gathering of Muslim world students for four days.
