Ravanchi: We are optimistic

Vienna, Nov 25, IRNA – Majid Takht-e Ravanchi, member of Iranian nuclear negotiation team, expressed optimism about achieving a comprehensive final agreement, opining that it will be gained in a very short while.

“We are optimistic and believe we can achieve final agreement in a very short while, but telling its exact date is unpredictable,” said the Iranian deputy foreign minister in a press conference.

Our viewpoints on many issues have got close to each other and the reason why we did not achieve agreement within the defined period was the time barrier. If we had a little more time, we could have finalized the job in this round of negotiations, he added.

Ravanchi said that it was a decision of the group to add a few weeks, or so many days to sum up the viewpoints and contemplate deeply on various issues, but when we will gather together again it will be noticed that all the problems have already been resolved.

In response to a question on the percentage of the nuclear talks’ progress, he said, “It is not right to speak about the percentages.”

A reporter asked about the sabotages in the progress of the negotiations, setting example of a meeting between the US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Saudi counterpart Saud Al Faisal in Vienna Airport.

“I will not call that a case of sabotage,” he said.

“When you intend to reach agreement on very minute details it will be a time taking process and you will not be able to agree on everything in a limited time. The main reason for missing the comprehensive final agreement was time limitation,” he added.
