Speaking in a ceremony to unveil 'IRNA Urdu,' Managing Director of the agency Mohammad Khodadi said there are many common cultural and historical points shared by Iranians and nations of the Indian sub-continent.
He stressed that the Persian and Urdu languages play important roles in bringing the two sides closer to each other.
'IRNA Urdu,' Khodadi said, 'along with the agency's sites in other languages including English, Arabic, Spanish and Turkish, have been launched to cover the domestic developments, elucidate the official position of the Islamic Republic and its top officials, echo the achievements and progresses of the Islamic Iran in various political, economic, scientific fields, and introduce the rich Iranian and Islamic culture for the information of its international audience.'
'IRNA foreign language outlets are the main communication bridge linking world's non-Persian speaking audience with the latest domestic, regional and international developments, thanks to its skilled staff,' the IRNA chief stressed.
He noted that IRNA stories have been repeatedly published by foreign users who consider the agency a major source on Iran.
Khodadi said another news service in Russian will be launched in a near future, adding that a number of other foreign language news services are in line to be launched.
IRNA plans to promote the range of its accessibility for its international audience, Khodadi said, adding that the agency has designed and employed various applications, software and smart equipment, including Android operating systems, to improve easy access for its users worldwide.
He noted that IRNA is also intended to benefit from the views and comments posted by its overseas audience through two-way connection.
