Iran attending Harmony World Puppet Carnival 2014

Tehran, Nov 1, IRNA – Iran is attending the Harmony World Puppet Carnival 2014, underway in Rattanakosin Island in Bangkok, Thailand.

Two theater troupes will give three performances at the event, which started Nov.1 and will end on Nov. 10.

The Iranian 27-Aban Theater Troupe led by director Hamed Zarean will perform parts of a street show themed ‘Our Childhood World’.

The play will be staged in English and Persian.

The troupe will present 30 Takam Puppets, made by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), to some participating groups to introduce Iran’s stage characters.

One of the puppets will be donated to Thailand’s Puppets Museum.

During the event, the group will also unveil giant puppets adapted from Iranian traditional fictional characters.

The theater troupe will also stage a play in the carnival’s ‘Shakespeare’ section.

Elsewhere, the 7-5–1 Theater Group led by director Amir Mashhadi Abbas will stage 'Naughty Boy'.

Over 160 troupes of puppeteers from 80 countries are attending the Harmony World Puppet Carnival 2014.
