Zarif talks with Hamas, Islamic Jihad officials over phone

Tehran, July 29, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in telephone conversations with Hamas politburo Chief Khaled Mashaal and Secretary General of Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine Ramadan Abdullah, reaffirmed Iran's government sympathy with Palestinians.

Zarif felicitated Eid-ul Fitr and also expressed Iran's sympathy with Palestinians, especially residents of Gaza, who have been under attacks of the Zionist regime.

He underlined continuation of political and legal ways to exert international pressures on the Zionist regime to stop committing crimes in the Gaza Strip.

Referring to dispatching humanitarian aids to Gaza, Zarif expressed hope that passageways to Gaza could be open to send medical aids.

Both Palestine resistance leaders explained the latest situation in Gaza and appreciated Iran's diplomatic efforts in current situation in Gaza.

Zarif also talked with President of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer on the phone on Monday and asked him to mobilize all potentials to send humanitarian aids to Gaza Strip.

Referring to critical situation in Gaza and possibility of emerging a human disaster in the region, Zarif stressed that unfortunately because of Gaza blockade, it is hard to dispatch humanitarian aids to the region and it is necessary that international efforts to send food and medical aids to Gaza be intensified.

The two sides also underlined necessity of more coordination between ICRC and Iran to send relief aids to Gaza.
