Senior MP slams int'l bodies for silence on massacre of Gazans

Tehran, July 25, IRNA -- Rapporteur of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini blasted the international bodies, including the United Nations, for keeping mum about terrorist actions in the Gaza Strip

'The silence of the international bodies towards Israel's crimes is shameful and Muslims should themselves think about these cancerous tumor,' Naqavi Hosseini said.

He noted that today the world people are witnessing the unprecedented crimes of the usurper regime of Israel against the Palestinian people and the Gaza Strip, and said, 'The western countries and the US that claim to be supporters of human rights have remained indifferent towards these crimes and they have remained silent.'

Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 17 consecutive days, killing at least 750 people and injuring more than 4,600 others.

According to the UN, 77% of the victims in Gaza are civilians and defenseless people.

Since July 8, Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against Gaza.

On July 17, thousands of Israeli soldiers launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated Gaza Strip.

International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas.

Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held every year on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.

The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.
