Int’l Quds Day reminds Muslims to liberate Bait-ul-Muqaddas from alien occupation: Jalal

New Delhi, July 21, IRNA – International Quds Day, an annual event held on the last Friday of Ramazan, which falls this year on 25th July, initiated by the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (R.A.) in 1979, reminds Muslims across the globe to liberate Bait-ul-Muqaddas from the illegal occupation of Zionist regime, said an eminent Indian Religious scholar Monday in New Delhi.

Bait-ul-Muqaddas, is the holiest site, first Qibla in Islam and is located in the old city of Jerusalem. Muslims believe that Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was transported from the sacred Mosque in Mecca to Bait-ul-Muqaddas during the night journey.

Islamic tradition holds that Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led prayers towards this site until the seventeenth month after the emigration, when Almighty Allah directed him to turn towards the Kaaba.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi, President of Shaheed Mottahhari Society in Delhi said: “This is not an event but a platform, which unite the Muslims across the globe and they in one voice draw attention of the world people to the continued illegal occupation of Bait-ul-Muqaddas, as well as the Israeli aggression on innocent Palestinians”.

He said that this day also intended to bring all peace-loving people together regardless of their race, religion or sect to raise the voice against Zionism and imperialism and stand up against the injustices being perpetrated across the globe by the oppressors.

Praising Imam Khomeini’s uncountable efforts to unite Muslim Ummah, religious scholar said: “By designating last Friday of Ramazan as “Int’l Quds Day”, Imam Khomeini (R.A.) has made a chain, which from 1979 till today has become longer and longer. “There is no place in the world where the Int’l Quds Day is not observed.

'Undoubtedly this chain binds together not only Muslims, but all fair-minded justice seeking people against the illegal occupation of a highly sacred religious place. And they in one voice called for unified resistance against the Zionist designs,” he added.

Noting that this year the Int’l Quds Day has attained added significance, Jalal Haider, who is also the Joint Secretary of Majlis Ulema-e-Hind said: “By forging unity, on the auspicious day, Muslims and the other world nations must exert pressure on the Zionist regime to stop criminal attacks in Gaza and crushing the innocent Palestinians, including wome, children and elderly. And also forced it to vacate the occupied lands.

He also condemned the US for its unethical support to Israel in oppression of the Palestinian Nation which is worse than that of Nazis’ Holocaust.

Shiite Scholar also urged the Indian Government, being founder member of the Non-Aligned Movement, to use its influence and exert pressure on Zionist Regime to vacate Palestinian territories and stop atrocities on innocent Palestinians.
