Iran-USA continue consultations to extend negotiations

Vienna, July 18, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministers Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi and Seyed Abbas Araqchi and the US State Department Director General for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman started their talks on Friday afternoon on extending the ongoing nuclear talks.

The two sides also had discussions since Friday morning on the same issue.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad javad Zarif in his latest comment in an interview with the US News Channel 'CNN' had said talks between Iran and six western countries on nuclear program is a historical opportunity for all of us to end a very long chapter of talks to solve the issue.

He underlined that Iran's nuclear program will remain peaceful for ever, adding, 'Imposed sanctions against Iran have never achieved its goals and we have held enough negotiations seriously to think about possibility of continuation of such negotiations.'

Zarif stressed that US Secretary of State John Kerry and I have recommended about the issue.

Iran's negotiating team is negotiating with Group 5+1 in Vienna since July 2, 2014 on comprehensive nuclear agreement text.
