Larijani calls on world powers to quit excessive demands in talks

Tehran, July 16, IRNA – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with visiting Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Spanish Parliament Duran Lleida in Tehran underlined that if the West does not make excessive demands, Iran and West can reach final agreement.

'The positive status of the Spanish government and nation is in historical memory of the Iranian nation and common viewpoints of Spain and Iran on regional and international issues provides a suitable capacity for boosting the level of bilateral relations,' Larijani said during the meeting.

The Iranian parliament speaker pointed to the critical conditions of the Middle East, specially the situation in Iraq and Syria, and said, 'Strengthening and supporting terrorism by the US and some regional countries are the main causes of insecurity and chaos in the region.'

Larijani condemned the tragedies and crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, and said, 'The independent countries are expected not to remain indifferent towards massacre of women and children as well as slaughter of innocent people in Gaza by the Zionist regime.'

The chairman of the Spanish parliament's foreign policy commission, for his part, expressed the hope that with the joint efforts of the two countries, Iran and Spain will witness boosting friendly relations between Iran and Spain, specially in parliamentary terms.

He pointed to the ongoing Iran-Group 5+1 negotiations in Vienna, and said, 'Spain welcomes these negotiations and it hopes that a good agreement on the basis of mutual confidence and taking Iran's interests into consideration as well as removal of concerns of the international community will be formed.'
