IUC establishes world free from violence commission

Tehran, Jan 18, IRNA – Participants in the 27th International Islamic Unity Conference (IUC) established world free from violence commission to follow up President Rouhani's proposal in the United Nations.

Dr. Sheikh Shadi al-Messri, special representative of Lebanon Grand Mufti, said in the commission that Holy Quran orders all Muslims to create such a world.

Head of Afghanistan peace council Salahuddin Rabbani was another speaker in the commission who presented his article about world free from violence.

He said one of the problems in the Islamic world is fomenting religious sects' tensions which has had undesirable consequences so far.

Rabbani added that the Proximity Assembly should promote the idea of co-existence in the Islamic societies and the Islamic ulama, in confrontation with Takfiris and radicalism, should take firm stances.

Former Washington Friday prayers leader Mohammad al-Aasi and member of high council of the Assembly said that Takfiris are threatening Islamic world.

Several others speakers presented their views in the commission on Friday.

The 27th International Islamic Unity Conference started its 3-day work on Friday in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani and a number of officials and scholars from 50 different countries.
