Iran, first priority for Tajik investors: envoy

Kashan, Jan 15, IRNA – Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Iran Dowlat-Ali Hatamev said that in view of the two countries’ historical, religious and cultural commonalities, Iran is the first priority for the Tajik investors.

In a meeting with Kashan Mayor Mohammad Nazem-Razavi, the ambassador said that common culture and history pave the way for solidarity and proximity between the two nations.

Although many investors from different countries are willing to invest in Tajikistan, the Tajik investors give priority to Iran, Hatamev said.

Iran was the first country which recognized Tajikistan’s independence, he said, noting that the Iranian government and nation have always been alongside Tajikistan in tough times.

The ambassador said that over 200 Iranian companies have invested in Tajikistan, and that most of the Iranian investors have voiced their readiness to take part in the country’s economic projects.

Hatamev also expressed his country’s readiness to expand cooperation with Iran.

Referring to Iran’s high capacity in the field of agriculture, especially in the cotton production, he said that his country is prepared to make available lots of land to the Iranian companies to cultivate crops.

Kashan mayor, for his part, described Kashan as one of the main Iranian commercial and economic centers, saying that the city with over 600 small and big factories boasts higher capacity for investment.

Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Iran arrived in Kashan on a one-day visit for talks with the city’s officials and see the historical and tourist sites.
