Berlin, Jan 13, IRNA -- The European Union vowed to fulfil its promise to lift some of the Iran sanctions as part of the deal, a spokeswoman to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said in Brussels on Monday.

'When it comes to the sanctions, I can confirm that the EU will stick

to its commitments and take all the necessary steps in the direction,

so that what was agreed will also be fulfilled,' said Maja Kocijancic.

She told media representatives in Brussels that she could not give any

time frame for talks with Iran on a more comprehensive accord.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said earlier those talks

could begin in two to three weeks with the venue yet to be decided.

The agreement between six world powers and Iran will come into effect January 20.

The interim agreement is for a period of six months, during which time a wider-range deal will be sought.
