Zarif to visit Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq

Tehran, Jan 11, IRNA – An informed source in foreign ministry said that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan this week.

The source told IRNA on Saturday evening that the aim of these diplomatic visits is to consult with counterparts on bilateral ties and regional developments.

Zarif has already visited Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.

Lebanon’s ambassador to Tehran told IRNA on Saturday that Zarif will visit Beirut on Monday.

Fadi Haj Ali said that Mr. Zarif, during his visit, will meet with senior officials of Lebanon including president and foreign minister, adding that one of the most important issues which will be discussed would be terrorist blasts in front of Iran’s embassy in Beirut, especially arrest and death of Majed al-Majed and investigations concerning these events.

The Lebanese diplomat underlined that Lebanon welcomes Iran’s help and cooperation in investigation on blasts in front of Iran’s embassy and its aftermath.

He said all information and results reached by Lebanese judicial and security investigation will be disposed to Mr. Zarif during his visit.

Fadi Haj Ali stressed that investigation has not come to an end yet and arrest of Majed al-Majed showed that investigation by the Lebanese security and judicial bodies were in correct way.
