UK parliamentary delegation arrives in Tehran

Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA – A British parliamentary delegation headed by former foreign secretary Jack Straw arrived here Tuesday morning on a three-day visit to discus issues of mutual interest with senior Iranian officials.

The four-man group is to attend the Iranian parliament (Majlis) Tuesday morning session and meet with members of Iran-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Straw is to attend a press conference at the Iranian Majlis Wednesday afternoon, Abbasali Mansouri Araani, the Iranian head of Iran-UK parliamentary friendship group told IRNA.

According to Araani, promotion of Tehran-London relations in various fields, particularly in economic and political activities, is a major objective of the visit to Tehran of the British delegation.

Straw had once visited Iran as the British Foreign Secretary in 2003 when Hassan Rouhani was head of the then Iran's nuclear negotiating team with the West.
