Saudi plane carrying Iranians makes emergency landing

Tehran, Jan 5, IRNA – A Saudi airplane carrying Iranian pilgrims was forced to make an emergency landing in the holy city of Medina Sunday morning, an official told IRNA.

Saeed Owhadi, Head of Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, said the plane had an emergency landing due to technical problems.

The incident caused slight injuries to 14 Iranian pilgrims, he added.

Owhadi said the flight from Khorasan Razavi province in northeastern Iran was carrying Iranians for minor Hajj.

The official further rejected news on a blast enroute of a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims to holy sites in Iraq.
