Approval of WAVE act, endorsement to the vision of Iranian leadership: Editor

Islamabad, Jan 2, IRNA – A Pakistan editor on Thursday said that approval of World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) act proposed by Iran is the endorsement of the vision of Iranian leadership by the world.

Talking to IRNA, Saleem Bukhari, editor of daily ‘The Nation’ said that credit of the adoption of the act in United Nations General Assembly goes to the Islamic leadership and democratic government of Iran represented by President Hassan Rouhani.



On December 18, President Rouhani’s World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) proposal was ratified by 190 positive votes at the UN General Assembly.



The WAVE Act calls on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.



The Iranian President made the proposal in an address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25.



Saleem Bukhari expressing his views said that acceptance of Iranian rights by the western countries has changed the world scenario altogether.



He added that because of the vision of the Iranian leadership the 5+1 group had entered into a nuclear deal with Iran and one could expect that the sanctions would be lifted from the Islamic Republic very soon.



He went on to say that the approval of the Iranian proposals by the UN in such a large number is a major development.



The analyst viewed that Iran is an important country of the region and has been playing an active role for the stability of the area.



Saleem Bukhari strongly believed that no decision in the region can be implemented without the consent of Iran. He said that world has at last realized that they have to maintain working equation with the Islamic Republic.



The senior journalist maintained that peace cannot be restored and major issues of the world cannot be resolved without taking Iran on board.



The editor was of the view that credit of the adoption of the WAVE act in UN goes to the Islamic leadership and democratic government of Iran represented by President Hassan Rouhani.



“This is also a positive development for the peace of the world,” said the analyst.
