Majlis commission calls for an MP to be included in nuclear negotiating team

Tehran, Jan 1, IRNA – Rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said Wednesday that the government has been asked to include a lawmaker from the Commission or Majlis presiding board in the negotiating team in the course of talks with P5+1.

Speaking to IRNA, Naqavi Hosseini said that the demand has been made as some members of parliament want to get involved in negotiations.

During the negotiations with Western governments, important issues are discussed that the MPs need to know about them, Naqavi Hosseini said, adding, "presently there are restrictions on announcement of news such as the recent expert-level talks in Geneva."

The limitations on Iranian lawmakers to get to know details of procedure mapped up on December 31 to implement the nuclear deal struck on November 24.

Naqavi Hosseini said that the parliament cannot stand idle about the sensitive negotiations underway between Iran and the western governments and has demanded for participation of an MP in the negotiations.
