Salehi: Iran designs new generation of centrifuges

Isfahan, Dec 26, IRNA – A new generation of centrifuges are designed and ready to be mass produced, but before that phase they have to pass many tests, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said here on Thursday, adding that there are now 19,000 centrifuges in Iran.

Ali Akbar Salehi who was speaking on the sidelines of the Isfahan Biannual Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Substances Conference added, “We proudly and honorably announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran is among the countries that are capable of conducting the full fuel cycle of the nuclear fuel production from discovery to mining and from there to turning uranium to nuclear fuel.”



“Under the current conditions, keeping in mind the eye catching achievements of Iran the basis of our work is quality improvement, and we need to increase productivity while decreasing the costs,” he added.



Salehi also announced that an ultra-specialist hospital equipped with the entire modern facilities at the service of patients suffering from acute diseases, particularly cancer is being constructed under the supervision of the AEOI by the Iranian private sector, which will be put to use within the next five years.



The first Biannual Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Substances Conference ended its two-day activities in Isfahan on Thursday.



Sixty of the 360 papers approved for presentation at the conference were presented as lectures, and the remaining 300 were put on display as posters.
