Iran, Turkey to expand cooperation by declaring Tehran, Ankara sister cities: Tehran Mayor

Ankara, Dec 18, IRNA – Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says that signing Tehran-Ankara sisterhood agreement will pave the way for economic activities and investment in both countries.

Talking to IRNA upon arrival in Ankara, he added that the trip will provide an opportunity for meeting the country's urban officials.

Referring to inking of Tehran-Ankara sisterhood agreement during his Ankara visit, Qalibaf said that despite the fact that signing the deal was taking place late, the event will provide a suitable chance for economic activities and investment in cultural and development projects of in the two states.

The Tehran Mayor also said that in addition to signing the agreement, he will also take part in the three-day Meeting of Middle East and West Asia Mayors scheduled to open in Konya on Thursday under his chairmanship.

He further noted that he will discuss promotion of ties between Tehran and Istanbul municipalities with the Istanbul mayor during his stay in the country.
