Israel, US behind Iraq terrorist attack: Lawmaker

Shahr-e Rey, Dec 15, IRNA – A senior Iranian lawmaker said on Sunday that Israel and the US are behind Iraq terrorist attack that killed 15 Iranian citizens in the city of Khanaqin in Iraqi Diyala province.

Talking to IRNA, Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy spokesman Hossein Naghavi Hosseini said that the terrorist attack was aimed at sowing discord among the Islamic Ummah.

The enemies of Islamic system are seeking to sow discord among the Islamic nations through terrorist operations.

He stressed that such terrorist attacks have inflicted severe damage on Iraq economy for the first time.

Naghavi Hosseini said the Iraqi government is doing its best to identify and punish the agents behind such acts.

IRNA reported Friday evening that gunmen shot dead 18 workers near the village of Balad Ruz, situated 90 kilometers (55 miles) northeast of Baghdad.

Eighteen Iranians and number of Iraqi workers working on a pipeline project were killed and several others were also wounded in the attack.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.
