Iran FM to visit Turkey on Friday

Ankara, Oct 31, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who is on an official visit to South Africa, is to leave Pretoria for Istanbul for a day long visit.

During his visit, the Iranian foreign minister is scheduled to attend a conference on nuclear disarmament and international security and to meet and confer with a number of Turkish officials as well.

Zarif’s visit to Turkey would take place at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.

The Iranian foreign minister is to arrive in Istanbul early Friday and meet Turkish President Abdullah Gul at 9:30 local time. After the meeting he is going to deliver speech at the conference.

Afterwards he will travel to Ankara to held separate meetings with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Davutoglu.

Iranian Ambassador to Ankara, Alireza Bigdeli told IRNA that as threats of military intervention against Syria have been removed, consultations between Iranian and Turkish officials to settle regional issues have assumed special importance.
