Blast kills Pakistani soldier in tribal region

Islamabad, Oct: 27 ,IRNA-- A Pakistani soldier was killed and three were injured in lawless tribal region on Sunday, security officials said.

The roadside bomb exploded near a convoy of the security forces near Miranshah, the center of North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan.

The security forces also defused two other bombs along the route of the convoy, an official said.

The area had been under weekly curfew imposed on Sundays for the movement of the security forces.

No group claimed responsibility.

Militant groups routinely launch attacks on the security forces in North Waziristan, one of the seven tribal regions. Waziristan is considered as the main hideout of the Taliban and other militant groups.

Main Taliban group in North Waziristan has signed a peace deal and both do not attack each other. However, there are several militant groups who are attacking the security forces.

The attack occurred at a time when the government is set to begin talks with the Taliban group to end bloodshed in the country.
