Aboutorabi-Fard calls for avoiding dividing remarks

Tehran, Oct 25, IRNA -- Majlis Vice-Speaker Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard said Friday that Iran is experiencing a unique situation in view of national solidarity, calling on all groups to avoid dividing remarks.

Speaking to channel three of Iran's state-run television, Aboutorabi-Fard said that today all political parties have confidence in the guidelines of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and move in the same direction.

Asked to comment about the recent remarks by certain figures to put aside the motto of “Down with USA” and what the late Imam Khomeini would do in this regard, if he was alive now, he said that Iran started opposing the US when it was at its weakest time and the US was at the height of its power.

With military and economic pressures mounting on Iran, it was Imam Khomeini’s dignity and faith in God and the Iranian nation’s perseverance that kept us from surrendering, he said.

“Today we are powerful and take the upper hand in our negotiations and the regional situation has changed in favor of Iran,” he added.
