Cleric: Use of nuclear weapons are forbidden under Islam, Supreme Leader decree

Tehran, Oct 25, IRNA - Tehran’s interim Friday prayers leader, Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi, on Friday said use of nuclear weapons is forbidden under Islam and the religious decree of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Delivering his sermon to worshippers gathering at Tehran University campus, Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi stressed that Iran not only has explicitly declared that any use of nuclear weapons is forbidden but is also trying to disarm the owners of nuclear weapons for the sake of peace and security in the region and across the globe.

Enrichment is the Islamic Republic of Iran's inalienable right, he said, adding it is every country’s right to have peaceful civilian nuclear program for medical purposes but the use of nuclear weapons is prohibited for all nations.
