Moderation prepares ground for Iran’s development: Rafsanjani

Kermanshah prov, Oct 15, IRNA – Iran’s Expediency Council chaiman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Tuesday that moving based on Islamic moderation paves the way for the development of the country.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani made the remarks in an address to a group of industrial and economic activists in the western province of Kermanshah.

With their high turnout in June 14 presidential election and their votes for a moderate government, the Iranian people signaled their demand for moderation in the country, the Ayatollah said.

He blamed certain extremist groups in the country for preventing Iran from achieving development and growth, saying they believe that Iran should not establish relations with foreign countries.

He noted that going to extremes could create problems everywhere at any time, citing current situation in Afghanistan, Iraq and Egypt caused by extremists in those countries.

The EC chairman criticized those who try to throw obstacles on the way of moderation in the country, adding their efforts will go nowhere and they will fail to achieve their goals.

He called Western sanctions on the country and domestic mismanagement as main problems facing the country and said solving problems in international arena could lead to removing a lot of other problems of the country.
