Iran, 5+1 start fresh talks in Geneva

Geneva, Oct 15, IRNA – New round of talks between Iran and the group of sextet- the US, UK, France, Russia and China plus Germany- began here on Tuesday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, leading Iran’s negotiating team, arrived in Geneva Monday.

Zarif is to present Tehran’s new proposal to the six countries.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi believes that the talks may last for six months or a year.

Zarif, top nuclear negotiator, has said if the other side shows goodwill practically, Iran’s nuclear case will turn into a normal issue at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Zarif will only attend the first round of talks. Araqchi, a member of Iran’s negotiating team, will chair the team during the second round, since the representatives of the Group 5+1 have attended the today talks at deputy foreign minister level.

Tens of domestic and foreign reporters and cameramen are present in the venue of the talks to cover the crucial event.
