Afkham: Tehran does not accept conditional invitation to Geneva 2 confab

Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Tuesday that Tehran would not accept any conditional invitation to Geneva 2 confab and is ready to contribute to settlement of the Syrian crisis.

Afkham made the remark in reaction to the US conditional welcome to Iran presence in the Geneva 2 conference.

“If our presence will help resolve the Syrian crisis, conditional invitation of the Islamic Republic of Iran would be unacceptable and we do not accept any condition.”

Referring to Iranian absence in the Geneva 1 conference, Afkham said the Islamic Republic of Iran believes in political understanding based on talks and agreement among all Syrian parties the only way to end the catastrophic crisis of Syria and is ready to help the process

She added that refusing to invite Iran to the political process means depriving the conference of the Iranian constructive role.
