President Rohani’s UN visit a great success: analyst

Islamabad, Oct 8, IRNA – Pakistani analyst on Tuesday said that President Hassan Rohani’s visit to the United Nations was a great success as it was carried out under the guidance of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Talking to IRNA Syed Saqib Akbar said that the Supreme Leader had wisely said that heroic flexibility is very useful and necessary sometimes in diplomacy.

The researcher said that President Rohani’s address to the 68th annual summit meeting of the UN General Assembly has been welcomed by the western world. "There was a positive atmosphere at the UN for the Islamic Republic," he said.

The analyst reiterated that Iran has always pursued a peaceful policy. "Iran wants stability in region and has always played a positive role in resolving regional issues".

He termed the telephone conversation between US President Barack Obama and President Rohani as historic. "Change in Washington's approach towards Iran is the success of the Iranian policies," said the analyst.

He said US is interested in resolving all issues with Iran, adding that the Zionist regime is extremely worried about developments in Iran-US relations and that is why Benjamin Netanyahu is making aggressive statements against Iran.

Referring to Iran's nuclear program as very clear and transparent, he urged the western powers to accept Iran's legitimate rights.

The analyst said Iran, a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), is entitled to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.
