Herat security talks open in presence of Iran

Kabul, Oct 2, IRNA - The second international conference on Herat security negotiations opened in the western Afghan province of Herat on Saturday.

Organized by Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS), several political and academic experts, delegates from a number of international organizations, journalists, business delegates as well as media and civil society representatives from Afghanistan, Iran and 30 other are participating in the two-day gathering.

Herat's security issues, the role of this province in international trade and economy, the ways for enhancing provincial investment opportunities, Afghanistan peace and tranquility in regional and international arenas, 2014 presidential election and campaign against narco-trafficking will be among major issues to be discussed by participants in the event.

The event will be wrapped up on October 6.
