Moderate earthquake jolts NW Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 5, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit northwestern parts of Pakistan on Saturday, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

According to the report‚ the epicenter of the earthquake was on Afghanistan-Tajikistan border at a depth of 80 kilometers.

However‚ there were no reports of any casualties.

In October 2005, a strong earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale jolted Pakistan, causing large scale destruction and killing over 80,000 people as well as leaving millions of others homeless.
