Six Pakistanis injured in Indian firing

Islamabad, Oct 5, IRNA – Indian firing has injured six Pakistanis along the Line of Control in the disputed Kashmir region, official sources said.

They said Indian troops violated the ceasefire in Kotli sector and fired rockets on civilian population.

The latest incident occurred just days after Pakistani and Indian prime ministers agreed in New York last week to reduce tensions along the LoC, the de facto border between the uneasy neighbours.

Both countries had declared ceasefire at the LoC in 2003 and guns had relatively been silent since then.

However tensions escalated following exchange of firing by troops of the two countries in January.

Both accuse each other of ceasefire violations.
